Man of the match Boban Zirintuusa and Allan Kayiwa scored two second half goals to inspire Express FC to a spotless two nil victory over Maroons.
The Red Eagles had gone five league matches without tasting victory and they eventually earned it in what will be their final home game of the season.
They had last beaten Busoga United at home on April 18th and since played to three losses and two stalemates.
Following a dull first 45 minutes, the Red Eagles returned a rejuvenated side with Zirintuusa firing in a superb volley thanks to a well timed Joseph Akandwanaho cross in the 48th minute.
Maroons exerted some pressure in quest for an equaliser but the best they got were two penalty shouts that were turned down by referee Mashood Ssali.
Substitute Brian Kayanja should have put the game level after beating Arthur Kiggundu and his goalkeeper but his choice of going for power instead of finesse saw his effort going wide with the goal at his mercy.
Moments later, Kayanja miss was punished by Allan Kayiwa who scored another beautiful low shot, after a delightful knock down by Boban Zirintuusa.
Kayiwa’s goal came in the 90th minute and it was his 12th, putting him ahead of Villa’s Charles Bbaale in the race for the for the golden boot.
Express FC mantain 10th place on the log and they will play their final league game against Blacks Power in Lira on 27 May.
Maroons will host BUL FC on the same date at Luzira but today’s result had no significance on their position. They currently occupy 4th place , just two points above Arua Hill.
