The second round of the group stage of the 2023 Masaza Cup kickoff over the weekend with nine games at respective venues.
On Saturday, five time winners Gomba beat Ssese 3-1 away from home courtesy of Allan Oyiworth, Aaron Mutebi and Viane Benon Kiganyi.
Conrad Ssenjogera netted a consolation for hosts Ssese.
Victory saw Gomba claim top spot on in Muganzirwa Group with 11 points while Ssese are fourth with 8 points.
In the same group, Kabula edged Mawogola 2-1 thanks to Adda Isaac Julius and Ronald Turyamusima goals while Alfred Ejoye scored for the visitors.
Mawokota continued to stumble with a second consecutive goalless draw at home. On Sunday, the three time winners played out a barren stalemate with holders Busiro at Buwama.
Mawokota have now gone four games without victory since their 1-0 win over Gomba on match day two. Richard Malinga’s charges are however second in Muganzirwa Group with 9 points.
In Masengere Group, Buddu humbled Kooki 3-0 away from home thanks to goals from Pius Ssebulime, Isaac Ofoyrwoth and George Isingoma.
Buwekula also returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Kyadondo at St.Peter’s Technical in Mubende. Blunchar Mulamba scored the all important goal of the contest.
Still in Masengere Group, Buluuli and Kyagwe played out a 1-1 draw with Clovis Okwera scoring for the hosts while Yusuf Mukwana netted for the visitors.
Two time winners Ssingo needed a Joseph Ssewali second half goal to beat Bugerere 1-0 away from home in a Bulange Group game.
Butambala and Bulemeezi played out to a one all draw at Nkookooma playgrounds on Sunday. Derrick Birungi netted for Butambala while David Opio struck for Bulemeezi.
In the other Bulange Group, Buvuma and Busujju played out to a goalless draw. Ssingo top the group with 13 points.
