She Maroons earn first leg advantage over Asubo Gafford Ladies

FUFA Women Elite League giants She Maroons beat Asubo Gafford Ladies 2-0 in the first leg of this season’s FUFA Women’s Cup semi final at Luzira.

Anita Babirye and second half substitute Millicent Mwanzi Namwembe scored the goals for the victorious Prisons side.

Babirye perfectly converted from a penalty in the 12th minute following a handball in the forbidden area.

Gafford Ladies attempted a comeback but couldn’t bother Proscovia Adong in the She Maroons goal.

It was Namwembe who was brought off the bench at the start of the second second half, who scored the second goal of the match.

The Kenyan striker scored from close range following a corner kick after Lillian Kasuubo’s goal bound effort was punched away by goalkeeper Olga Lukiya in the 77th minute.

The second leg of the tie will be played on Sunday next at Kampala Quality to determine which side goes to the final to be held in Kumi.

The first semi final is between Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs with the former holding a first leg advantage courtesy of Viola Namuddu.
