2023 Masaza Cup: Mawokota find Malinga’s replacement

The management of Mawokota Ssaza team have appointed Michael Bukenya as their head coach for the 2023 Masaza Cup.

Bukenya replaces Richard Malinga who has been at the helms for the last two seasons.

Malinga guided Mawokota to the Semi-Finals of the 2021 edition before losing to Buwekula during a tense penalty shootout at Njeru Technical centre.

His replacement, Bukenya has previously worked at Mawogola, Buwekula, Busujju and Buluuli in the Masaza Cup.

Bukenya is a former Uganda U-23 midfielder at Kamwokya United, UPDF, Express, City Lads and Police.

During last year’s edition, he was in charge of Busujju Ssaza team.

He will be assisted by Mike Aziku, Eric Kisuze and Mutumba Adad is the goalkeeping coach.

The three time Masaza Cup winners are in Muganzirwa group alongside record winners Gomba, defending champions Busiro, Ssese, Mawogola and Kabula.
