Vipers SC beat Police FC 1-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Final at the Akii-bua Memorial Stadium in Lira

Captain Milton Karisa scored the all important first half goal as the Venoms completed a historic double.

They join SC Villa, Express FC and KCCA who are the other sides to have clinched the league and Uganda Cup double.

Vipers tactician Alex Isabirye Musongola joins Geoff Hudson (SC Villa), Paul Hasule (SC Villa), Polly Ouma (SC Villa), Jimmy Muguwa (Express FC) and Milutin Sredojevic (SC Villa) are the other coaches to have done a Cup double.

Isabirye also wins his fourth Uganda Cup trophy as a coach having previously won it with URA FC, SC Victoria University and BUL FC.

This is Vipers’ third Uganda Cup triumph after previous victories in 2016 and 2021.

Police who were featuring in only their second Uganda Cup final had a decent chance to score early in the first period but Emmanuel Mugume blasted over a golden opportunity.

The finish as runners just like they were 20 years ago when they lost 3-1 to Express FC.
