Zaga, Orit among players to be released by Vipers in squad shake up

Uganda Premier league champions Vipers SC are expected to let go of several players in the current transfer window, Swift Sports Uganda understands.

Fringe players Bashir Asiku, Frank Tumwesigye alias Zaga, Disan Galiwango and Ibrahim Orit are set to be released by Vipers.

But they aren’t the only players on the Venoms’ books that are set to be let go.

According to sources, Congolese imports Rodriguez Shamamba, Olivier Osomba Gracia Mpongo Mbombo, Serge Robert Mwenge and Darcy Mbaka Kipoyi are the others that are to be shown the exit at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Left back Galiwango joined Vipers SC from Express FC in 2020 leaves the club after winning two league titles and two Stanbic Uganda Cup trophies. In the just concluded season, Galiwango struggled for playing time due to stiff competition from Isa Mubiru.

Winger Orit who was signed from Mbarara City on a three year employment contract in 2020 will not be extending his stay at the five time League champions.

Zaga returned to the club in January 2022 on a three year contract but according to reliable sources he has been let go by the club with two years left on his contract.

Central defender Asiku Bashir, a product of St.Mary’s Secondary School team the feeder of Vipers senior team has also been shown the exit.

Last season, Vipers SC became the fourth side to win Cup double after clinching the Uganda Premier league title and Uganda Cup. They joined SC Villa, Express FC and KCCA FC who are the other sides to have won a Cup double.
