Ugandan shot stopper Vanessa Edith Karungi has officially joined Denmark topflight club FC Nordsjælland.
Karungi has been featuring second tier side B.93 Women for the last two seasons since her move from She Corporate FC in 2021.
Karungi leaves B.93 after agonizingly missing out on a topflight promotion with the club on the last day of the season.
She will now become the second Ugandan player to feature for FC Nordsjælland after Natasha Shirazi who played for the club in 2019.
Karungi who is also the first signing of the club in the primary window, expressed her delight upon moving to the topflight league.
” It’s a really cool feeling to be able to call yourself an FCN player. I see the switch to FC Nordsjælland as a great opportunity for me to develop as a player and be part of a team that plays at the top of Danish football.” Karungi said.
” There is an incredibly strong setup around the Women’s League team and especially around the goalkeeper team, where I hope we can help push each other to improve every day and create good results together.” She added.
FC Nordsjælland is a women’s team affiliated to the men’s Nordsjælland team.
The club finished fourth in the championship group in the recently concluded season behind Fortuna Hjorring, Brondby IF and champions HB Koge.
As a player, Karungi had a distinctive impact at B.93 Women which elevated her to the club’s captain armband.
