NSSF KAVC international volleyball tournament to attract clubs from nine countries

The 25th edition of the NSSF KAVC international volleyball tournament has officially been launched on Wednesday at Uganda Olympic Committee headquarters in Lugogo.

The 2023 edition will be held on 4th-6th August at Lugogo Sports Complex in Kampala and it will reiterate the theme “Championing better community health and behavior through sports.”

This year the event will attract teams from nine countries namely Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, DR Congo, Zimbabwe, Burundi and Tanzania.

“We shall have new teams from Zambia and Zimbabwe taking part in the competition. We expect an exciting and competitive tournament this year.” Said Olive Ekallam the Chairperson of the tournament Local Organizing Committee.

The tournament will be played on both the hockey Stadium (Day time) and Indoor Stadium (both day and Night).

Last year, APR men’s team beat the most successful team in the competition KAVC 3-2 in the final to clinch the 24th edition title.

APR women’s team beat a spirited KCCA side 3-2 to scoop the ladies title.

KAVC has won the most titles since inception (men) with 7 trophies followed by Sport-S (4).

KAVC women have won 8 titles, two better than KCCA.
