FUFA Pilsner Super 8 Pre-season tournament set to return

The FUFA Pilsner Super 8 Pre-season tournament is set to return ahead of the forthcoming 2023/24 season.

The competition has for the last three years not been played but according to a letter from FUFA to Uganda Premier league clubs it will this year take place.

“The FUFA Super 8 is a pre-season tournament played by the top 8 teams in the concluded season. The Cup has not been organized for the last two editions, however this year’s it will take place.” Read a letter from FUFA to Uganda Premier league clubs as quoted by Kawowo Sports

This year’s edition is scheduled to take place from 4th to 14th August 2023.

Previously the top 6 teams in the previous Uganda Premier League season and two newly promoted sides from the FUFA Big League took part in competition.

However during this year’s edition, the team’s that finished in the top 8 positions in the 2022/23 Uganda Premier league season are to lock horns.

These are champions Vipers SC, KCCA FC, SC Villa, Arua Hill, URA FC, Maroons FC, BUL FC and Wakiso Giants.

Vipers are the previous winners of the competition following their 2-0 triumph over KCCA FC in 2019.

For the starters, in the previous edition the winners(Vipers SC) of scooped Shs20Million Shillings as prize money and the runners (KCCA FC) bagged Shs12 Million shillings.
