Netball World Cup: Uganda posts highest ever finish with sweet revenge over South Africa

Uganda’s national Netball team (She Cranes) have completed a sweet revenge over hosts South Africa in the 5th position playoff on Sunday.

On Sunday, the She Cranes edged the Proteas 49-47 to finish fifth in the Global Showpiece.

The hosts nation had earlier on Thursday prevailed 52-50 over She Cranes during the second Preliminaryd round contest.

Victory on Sunday sees Uganda’s register their highest ever finish at the Netball World Cup while hosts South Africa settle for sixth place.

In the entertaining game, Mary Nuba was named player of the match for her outstanding performances.

She managed to score 29 goals from 32 attempts.

Uganda finished a joint 13th on their debut in Trinidad & Tobago before finishing 8th and 7th at the 2015 Australia and 2019 England World Cup respectively.

Meanwhile, the final of the Netball World Cup will be contested between England and Australia while Jamaica and New Zealand will battle in the third place playoff.
