URA FC progressed to the 2023 FUFA Super 8 Pre-season tournament after overcoming KCCA FC in the Semifinal on Friday.
URA FC prevailed 2-1 over KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, courtesy of goals from Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Laban Tibita.
At the time of the contest, the tax collectors were still mourning the death of their head coach Sam Timbe who passed on last week.
Following Timbe’s death, FUFA decided to postpone the game that was scheduled for last Sunday. The Veteran coach was laid to rest on Tuesday.
Before the entertaining game at Lugogo, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Timbe.
Early in the game, KCCA FC were awarded a penalty but Moses Waiswa who was entrusted with the responsibility failed to beat URA FC custodian Denis Otim from 12 yards.
Ahimbisibwe who was making his debut for the revenue side following his move from UPDF FC opened the scoring heading home a perfect Joseph Ssemujju cross.
Moments later, the home side levelled matters through defender Filbert Obenchan’s header off a Usama Arafat cross.
Second half substitute Tibita also a debutant at URA FC scored the late winner in the second minute of added time.
URA FC will face off with BUL FC in the final on 3rd September at yet to be confirmed venue while KCCA FC will battle SC Villa for a third place playoff.
