Reigning Pepsi University Football League champions Uganda Martyrs University kicked off their title defense with a perfect start on Tuesday at Nkozi University.
Uganda Martyrs University humbled Bugema 3-1 in the opening game of the 2023/24 season.
Goals from Akbar Ssentongo and Ivan Agamire gave the holders a perfect start in Group A.
Kimuli Dennis scored a consolation for the visitors.
Agamire gave Uganda Martyrs the lead in the 36th minute before Ssentongo sealed the victory with a second half brace.
Bugema’s consolation came deep in stoppage time thanks to a Kimuli well struck penalty.
Action will resume on Wednesday as last season’s runners up St.Lawrence University host Nkumba University at Kavule.
