Vipers SC began the defence to their Uganda Premier League title with a 2-1 victory over Gaddafi FC at Gaddafi Arena on Sunday.
Skipper Milton Karisa who had a spectacular 2022/23 season opened the scoring while Mauritanian Mohemad Salem Ekbad doubled their advantage. Both goals came in the first period.
Benson Muhindo a debutant at Gaddafi netted a consolation for the hosts in the second half.
Last season’s Most Valuable Player Karisa fired the visitors in the lead in the 27th minute.
Five minutes to halftime breather, Salem doubled Vipers’ lead on his Uganda Premier league debut.
In the 55th minute, Muhindo pulled one back for the home side from the spot on his UPL return.
The Venoms held on to maximum points and will next host Arua Hill on Thursday night at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
David Mutono’s coached side will be seeking to make amends against URA FC on Friday, 22nd September.
