The FUFA Big League game between Kyetume FC and Kataka was abandoned on Sunday after the visitors walked off the pitch protesting a penalty that had been awarded to the home side at Nakisunga Ssaza Grounds.

In the 62th minute, referee Amon Ainebyona awarded Kyetume a penalty after custodian Solomon Okello had fouled Bashir Wandawa in the forbidden area.

Kataka players protested the referee’s decision and decided to walk off the pitch.

Following the protests, the game did not continue and no decision has been made by FUFA competitions Committee over the incident.

This is not the first time for Kataka to be involved in such unsporting manner.

It should be noted that, Kataka players and officials beat up Kyetume FC players, officials and fans after the decisive league game that was held at Mbale municipal stadium in May last year.

Immediately after the final whistle there was a rush for the exits as stones, bricks and bottles flew around. Kataka players and their fans were infuriated after losing the match 2-3 and vented their fury over what they deemed as poor officiating.

The incident resulted into a six months ban to Kataka defender Noah Kizito as the team was ordered to play five home games behind closed doors on a neutral ground outside Bugisu Province over hooliganism.

Last season, six Adjumani Town Council FC players and assistant coach were allegedly beaten by Kataka FC fans during a Big League at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

FUFA dismissed the petition by Adjumani TC FC against Kataka FC regarding allegations of fan misconduct after analysing the evidence at its disposal including the match reports, the CCTV footage outside the stadium as well as the submissions of both parties.
