Police beat Kataka to clinch FUFA Big League title

Isaac Ogwang scored the all important goal as Police FC beat Kataka FC 1-0 to clinch the 2023/24 FUFA Big League title in Mbale.

Simon Peter Mugerwa’s came into the game needing just a point to cruise to the FUFA Big League title in the final game of the season.

Ogwang fired the Cops into the lead at the stroke of halftime to extend his goal tally to 14 goals.

The Cops finished top of the FUFA Big League table with 56 Points to smile to the title.

After the game, FUFA Exco Member Rogers Mulindwa who represented FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim handed over the trophy to Police FC.

The occasion was also graced by FUFA Exco Member Rogers Byamukama, FUFA Big League Delegate Hassan Kirunda and betPawa Country Marketing Manager Ivy Igundura.

Meanwhile, Lugazi FC beat Jinja North FC 2-0 to finish second on the log.

Sam Ssemugugu’s brace was enough to give Gerald Efeti coached side maximum points away to Jinja North.

Lugazi finished the FUFA Big League season second on the log with 53 points.

Police FC’s Dennis Kalanzi was named as the Most Valuable after registering 7 goals and 11 assists.

Lugazi FC’s goalkeeper Emuran Fahad finished as the best goalkeeper with 12 clean sheets while Booma’s Dickson Niwamanya with 16 goals was the top scorer

The Fairplay accolade went to Young Elephants.
