David GOMBE
Five time Buganda Masaza Cup winners Gomba have been delt a huge blow ahead of the 2023 Final.
The record competition winners will be without their head coach Felix Ssekabuza in Saturday’s epic finale against Bulemeezi at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Ssekabuza will not be on the touchline due to card accumulation and so will their custodian and captain Tony Atugonza.
The duo accumulated two yellow cards in the knockout stages of the competition.
Bulemeezi will also miss the services of striker David Opio after receiving two yellow cards in the Quarterfinal against Buwekula and in the Semifinal when they eliminated Mawokota.
Gomba are contesting their 9th final and are eyeing a sixth Masaza Cup triumph. They are previous winners in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and most recently in 2020.
Bulemeezi are taking part in their fourth final having reached the 2011, 2012, 2019 and this year.
They have previously won it in 2012 and 2019, their head coach Ibrahim Kirya will be facing Gomba whom he led to the 2020 triumph.
Kirya was also Mbogo clan head coach when they lost to Ngoonge in this year’s Bika football Final.
