FUFA suspends all games involving Express FC due to hooliganism

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has suspended the matches involving Express FC following the ugly incidents that happened after their 1-1 stalemate with UPDF FC on Friday.

Assistant Referee Fahad Sekayuba was badly beaten by allegedly Express FC fans.

The fans beat Sekayiba for awarding a ghost goal in the 81st minute in Bombo.

Sekayiba is currently at Mulago Hospital receiving medication.

On Saturday, the Uganda Football Referees Association stated that they were not to officiate games involving Express FC.

FUFA has on Sunday, confirmed that games involving Express have been suspended with immediate effect.

“The FUFA Executive Committee has suspended all matches involving Express FC with immediate effect until an amicable solution on the safety and security of referees is found following ugly scenes of their Uganda Premier League match against UPDF on 27.10.203 in Bombo.”

“Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) has consequently decided that their members (Referees) shall not be available for matches involving Express FC.” Said a statement from FUFA

Express were due to host their arch rivals SC Villa on Wednesday, 1st November at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Express FC shall be required to co-operate with investigations by FUFA and the authorities in order to identify the culprits alleged to have assaulted the referee after the game.
FUFA took the decision in the best interest of football and see that the culprits are brought to book.
