Vipers took the lead in the 19th minute courtesy of Donato who was unfortunate to deflect the ball into his own net after goalkeeper Chris Kusiima had saved Yunus Sentamu’s initial effort.

The second half saw Kitara show intent for a possible equalizer but couldn’t break the resolute of the Venoms.

Brian Aheebwa came close in the 77th minute with a header from Donato’s teasing cross but hit the cross bar before being cleared off the line by Rogers Torach.

Lawal, who replaced Milton Kariisa, broke the camel’s back with a thumping shot following a perfect combination between Karim Watambala and Erick Kambale in the 86th minute.

The much needed victory elevated Vipers to 45 points, one more than Kitara FC who have played a game more.
