Isaac Ogwang scores hat trick as Police condemn Mbale Heroes to first defeat of the season

Striker Isaac Ogwang continued with his scintillating form as he scored a hat trick as Police FC beat Mbale Heroes at the Mbale Stadium.

Ogwang became the first player to score a hat trick in this season’s betPawa Big League season.

The defeat was also the first for Mbale Heroes who had come into the game as the only unbeaten team in the Big League.

Livewire winger Dennis Kalanzi gave the Cops an early lead with a header from a corner kick in the third minute of the game.

Ogwang doubled the lead with a beautiful solo effort from outside the box in the 30th minute.

The former SC Villa and Arua Hill striker scored Police’s third goal with a powerful shot past goalkeeper Joseph Okurut in the 69th minute.

He completed his hat trick in style after twisting past Mbale Heroes skipper Geoffrey Lubangakane in the 74th minute.

Ogwang now leads the top scorers chart with sick goals, followed by his teammate Dennis Kalanzi, Ceaser Okhuti (Onduparaka) and Lugazi’s Sam Ssemugugu who have four goals each.

Police are top of the table with 19 points from eight games while their next opponents Blacks Power are second with 16 points.

Mbale Heroes will seek redemption as they visit Calvary next week in their next league game.
