The President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Wallace Karia has confirmed that Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya have been handed the rights to host the 2024 CHAN tournament.
Karia revealed the development during the TFF Annual General Meeting held on Saturday in Iringa.
The 2024 CHAN is meant to serve as a precursor as the East African countries prepare to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
“We have been handed the rights to host CHAN in September next year, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Our plan is to have one group in Kampala, one in Nairobi , one in Dar and one in Zanzibar. We will ask CAF to ensure our 4 teams are spread in different groups”

It should be noted that FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo once hinted on East Africa’s desire to host the CHAN tournament before hosting the 2027 AFCON.
In October, Kenya also hinted that they will be hosting the tournament in September next year alongside neighbours Uganda and Tanzania.
However, there has not been an official communication from CAF regarding the hosting rights of the 2024 CHAN.
CECAFA as a zone will have four teams at the tournament with Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania qualifiying as hosts while the fourth one will go via the regional play offs.
It should be remembered that Kenya were once handed the hosting rights of the 2018 CHAN tournament but we’re stripped due to unpreparedness.
