Uganda’s long-distance runner Benjamin Kiplagat has been found dead inside a car in Eldoret, Kenya.
According to reports, the former 3000m steeplechase runner Kiplagat was murdered earlier today in western Kenya. His neck was cut with a knife.
Kiplagat’s lifeless body was found inside his brother’s car in Texas near Kimumu Secondary School along Eldoret-Iten Road.

He represented Uganda at three Olympics and six World Athletics Championships. Won 2008 world junior silver in Poland and 2012 Africa Senior bronze in Benin.
In June 2012, Kiplagat made history after clinching bronze in the 3,000-metre Steeplechase final, the first medal of any kind to be won by a Ugandan male athlete following years of dominance by the Kenyan athletes.
According to the World Athletics Rankings, he was placed 38th overall in the Men’s 3,000 metre Steeplechase.
