Express FC head coach Alex Isabirye will tender his resignation from the club before this week ends, Swift Sports has reliably learnt.
Isabirye is expected to officially leave Express in the aftermath of the club’s Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 encounter with Rwenzori Lions at Wankulukuku on Saturday.
As earlier reported by this website a week ago, the soft spoken tactician has been frustrated by the improper way the club is being run.
Reliable sources reveal that Isabirye has already informed close people around him about his decision to leave the club after the Uganda Cup game on Saturday.
One of the main reasons for his resignation is the negligence of the club CEO Ashraf Miiro who has continuously ignored his phone calls whenever he tries to reach him out.
Isabirye is sarcastically animated on how a CEO of a big club Uganda Premier League club like Express can continuously play hide and seek whenever he is needed.
Additionally, it is understood that youngster Andrew Kawooya ‘Sergeant’ picked an injury on the head but only received 50,000 UGX from the club CEO for medication.
While head injuries are regarded as that dangerous, Kawooya’s efforts to reach out to the CEO for more appropriate and serious medical attention have continuously emerged unsuccessful as the CEO reluctantly ignores his calls.
It is also reportedly said, Isabirye was angered by the manner in which the club let defender Derrick Ngoobi go to join Sofapaka FC in Kenya a few days after the closure of Uganda’s transfer window leaving no direct replacement available.
Isabirye thought Ngoobi was to be his go-to defender following his performance against Mbarara City but surprisingly learnt about the defender’s departure during one of the training sessions a few days later when Ngoobi was nowhere to be seen.
To make matters worse, it is also understood that Isabirye has grown disappointed by the irregular turn up of players for training whereby a big chunk of players miss training because they haven’t been availed with a basic facilitation for transport.
The irregular turn up of players continuously upsets the team game plan and selection on the actual match day.
Besides the unavailability of transport fees, the club owes players and coaching staff salaries in the recent months while they have not received their allowances and bonuses for a substantial period of time which the coach believes is a huge demotivating factor that directly affects the team’s performance going forward.
It should be noted that Isabirye verbally threatened to quit the club last week after a disappointing defeat to KCCA but after some discussions he returned to the club for the next training session on Monday this week.
It is believed that Isabirye was assured of support from the administration before he committed his future to the club early this year but that has not been the case since then.
Isabirye, who replaced James Odoch in November, had seemingly stabled the Express troubled ship but will step aside after managing only seven league games and two in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
