Kitara FC claimed top spot on the Uganda Premier league table after a narrow 1-0 win over Wakiso Giants FC at Masindi Municipal Stadium on Tuesday.
Denis Omedi early strike saw Brian Ssenyondo coached side leapfrog BUL FC at the summit.
In the 8th minute, Omedi’s header from a corner kick beat custodian Bashir Sekagya.
Midway into the game, Kitara FC had their striker Jude Semugabi forced off after sustaining a serious injury and rushed to hospital.
Kitara held on to maximum points and are now top of the table with 39 points, one above second placed BUL FC who have played a game less.
They will next return to action on Sunday with the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 contest against SC Villa at Masindi Municipal Stadium.
The Purple Sharks on the other hand remain in 12th place with 20 points they have garnered.
