Vipers SC were without head coach Livingstone Mbabazi during their Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 tie against Iganga Young FC on Wednesday at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
Assistant coach Richard Wasswa was in charge of the team during their 3-0 win over Iganga.
Swift Sports Uganda that Mbabazi has not conducted training sessions since Vipers 1-1 draw with Bright Stars.
Vipers SC needed goals from Abdul Karim Watambala, Mauritanian Mohamed Ekbad Salem and Fazil Tumwine.
Watambala gave the hosts the lead from the spot in the 32nd minute breaking the visitors resilience at Kitende.
Milton Karisa also had a golden opportunity to score earlier into the game but his header kissed the bar.
Mauritanian forward Salem doubled the Venoms lead after being fed by Ghanaian Fumador Awisome five minutes after the recess.
Youngster Tumwine extended Vipers lead in the 72nd minute.
Vipers became the 7th team to qualify for the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals this season.
Other teams in the quarterfinals are Pajule Lions, Kitara FC, BUL FC, Police FC, KCCA FC and NEC FC.
