The first edition of the Astra Corporate Sports Network League has officially been launched on Monday at Hotel African in Kampala.
The Astra Corporate Sports Network was created on January, 13th 2024 following a meeting with various team managers representing 30 companies.
The main objective is to promote productive corporate networks by bringing together staff of member companies to participate in Various sports activities every month.
According to Simeon Bulezi Kawuma, the first chairman of Corporate Sports Network they are optimistic that they will stage the best Corporate games
“We are excited about the commencement of the league. We are grateful for the companies that have confirmed participation in the 2024 league opener. We are optimistic that more companies are to join along the way.” We are here to ensure that the pertinent needs of the participants are given priority. We are about accountability and ensuring that the expectations of participating members are met. We expect to have a high quality event.” Said Bulezi
The first outing is scheduled for 24th March, 2024 at Makerere University Business School. The outings are to run for the next months and games will be held at MUBS Playgrounds, Prisons Grounds in Luzira, Quality Chemicals Limited in Luzira, Hotel African for Swimming Pool, Kyadondo Rugby Club and Mandela National Stadium.
Participants will take part in Football (7 aside), Swimming, Netball, Basketball, Woodball, Volleyball, Pool, Athletics and Fun Games.
The games will be concluded by a Grand Dinner and awards ceremony in December this year.
Some of the companies that have confirmed participation include; Case Hospital, Africa Global Logistics, CCBA (Coca-Cola), Centenary Bank, DFCU Bank, DTB Bank, DHL, I&M Bank, MTN, NSSF, NWSC, Roofings Group, Royal Van Zanten, Stanbic Bank, Uganda Breweries Limited, URA, Vision Group, Uganda Prisons Services among others.
