The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards have revealed the winners of the month of March from various sports disciplines.
The winners were rewarded at the event held at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo on Tuesday morning.
Kakungulu Memorial School Head master Hajji Jamiru Buwembo graced the event.
Uganda Hippos and St.Mary’s Kitende forward Hakim Mutebi clinched the football gong following his remarkable displays at the concluded 13th African Games in Ghana.
Mutebi scored in Uganda Hippos semifinal comeback 4-2 win over Congo.
He beat teammate Usama Arafat and Queen Cranes player Catherine Nagadya to the accolade.
Lydia Namabiro scooped the Rugby category gong for her sensational performances for the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens at the HSBC Challengers Series and African Games in Montevideo and Accra Ghana respectively.
She helped the Lady Rugby Cranes finish fourth at the HSBC Challengers Series and was instrumental as the team won Gold at the African Games.
On her debut at the African Games in Ghana, Namabiro scored six tries and clinched the title of woman of the tournament.
Husinah Kobugabe won the best of Badminton for winning gold at the African Games with her teammate Gladys Mbabazi.
They overcame Algeria’s team in the Women’s Doubles.
She also managed silver in the women’s singles after losing to South Africa’s Johanita Scholtz.
Kobugabe beat Mbabazi and Fadilah Shamika to the Fortebet Real Stars Badminton accolade.
Weightlighter Davis Niyoyita was the best of March after managing three medals for Uganda at the African Games.
Niyoyita won two silvers and a bronze at the 13th Games in Ghana.
He was represented by Kakungulu Memorial School Kibuli, head teacher Hajji Jamiru Buwembo.
