St.Mary’s Kitende clinched the 2024 Wakiso Region Boys Football title after edging Buddo SS 1-0 in the final that was held at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Sunday.
Hassan Mubiru scored the all important goal to earn Kitende the title.
Buddo had won the previous three Wakiso Region Boys Football titles with triumphs coming against Kitende.
To reach the final, St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende thrashed Andy Mwesigwa Comprehensive 5-0 in the semifinal.
Buddo SS came from a goal down to beat Standard High School Zana 2-1 to reach the final.
Kitende played 10 games on their way to glory winning all of them without conceding a single goal and scoring 38 goals.
Dennis Kisiriko finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals while George Kato was named as the Most Valuable Player.
Standard High Zanna won the third place play off after defeating Andy Mwesigwa Comprehensive 5-4 after a two-all draw in normal time.
Wakiso Region will be represented by six schools namely; St Mary’s Kitende, Buddo SS, Standard High, Andy Mwesigwa, Kakungulu High and Kyadondo SS in the forthcoming USSSA Nationals that will be hosted by Masaka SS later this month.
