KCCA FC 4-0 Mbarara City
KCCA FC bounced back from the Stanbic Uganda Cup elimination with a dominant 4-0 win over Mbarara City in the Uganda Premier League 7pm kickoff at Lugogo.
Shaban Muhammad grabbed a brace with Ashraf Mugume and Etienne Katenga scored one apiece to ensure a comfortable victory for the Abdallah Mubiru coached side.
Shaban’s double automatically elevated him to the top of the league’s scorers chart on 14 goals, one more than Nelson Senkatuuka.
Mbarara City kick started the game on a high and as Joseph Akandwanaho forced Anthony Emojong into a brilliant save from a free kick in the 3rd minute of the game.
However, KCCA thereafter dominated proceedings with relentless attacks until the final whistle.
Mugume broke the deadlock with a sumptuous free kick from the edge of the box in the 15th minute.
Shaban doubled the lead with a penalty kick after Katenga was brought down by Mbarara City right-back Innocent Wafula in the 30th minute.
Coming into the second half, Shaban made it 3-0 from close range after goalkeeper Ronald Mutebi had saved his initial tap in following Haruna Lukwago’s teasing cross in the 50th minute.
Three minutes later, Katenga completed the rout with a thumping shot from Usama Arafat’s assist.
The home side had a couple of chances to extend the lead through Usama, Shaban and second half substitutes Dominic Ayella and Joao Gabriel but none was able to hit target.
The commanding win pushed KCCA to 38 points, six behind table leaders Kitara FC.
After 23 games played, KCCA are now 6th on the table while Mbarara City are 11th with 28 points.
Mbarara will host UPDF FC on Friday 26th April at Kakyeka in their next game while KCCA will visit Soltilo Bright Stars on Thursday 25th April.
