Zamalek SC beat Ghana’s Dream FC 3-0 in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi final and subsequently qualified for this season’s final.

Following a disappointing goalless draw in the first leg in Cairo, Zamalek went all out in the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana.

Hamza Mathlouthi, Samson Akinyoola and Mostafa Shalaby were on target to complete the assignment for the Egyptian giants.

Uganda Cranes midfielder Travis Mutyaba was an unused substitute on the evening despite featuring for 68 minutes in the first leg a week ago.

Mutyaba is in line to become another Ugandan to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup after Khalid Aucho who played for Yanga against USM Alger last year.

Zamalek will most probably face Morocco’s RS Berkane in the final awaiting official communication from CAF.

The semi final ties between RS Berkane and Algeria’s USM Alger were not played with CAF ruling the first leg 3-0 in favour of Berkane while USM Alger didn’t honor the second leg last night.

Zamalek will be seeking to win their second CAF Confederation Cup title having last won the 2018/19 edition, coincidentally against RS Berkane.

Mutyaba and teammates are expected to return to action on Thursday in an Egyptian Premier League game against National Bank of Egypt in Cairo.
