Coach Fred Kajoba passes on

The Ugandan football fraternity has this afternoon been hit with disheartening news of the untimely death of coach Fred Kajoba.

Kajoba who was part of Micho’s technical team that broke Uganda’s 38 year old jinx of not playing at AFCON when they guided to the nations cup finals in Gabon 2017 after beating Comoros at Mandela National Stadium.

A former player, Kajoba played for the men’s football national team, Coffee FC and army side Simba FC, whom he later coached.

He also coached Soltilo Bright Stars and Vipers SC in the capacity of head coach.

By the time of his death, Kajoba was working with coach Matia Lule at Tanzania side Ihefu FC.

According to senior sports journalist Ruben Luyombo, Kajoba felt unwell last night and asked Matia Lule to accompany him to hospital for a check up before they embarked on preparation for a league match this afternoon.

Luyombo adds that Lule left Kajoba in hospital and went to take charge of the match only to be called later to attend to his compatriot who only breathed his last a few minutes later.
