Namboole cleared to host international matches

Uganda Cranes will return to Mandela National Stadium in Namboole for the first time in four years.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) permission to host international matches at Namboole.

The development means that Uganda Cranes will host their forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches against Botswana and Algeria in June.

Namboole has been under refurbishment since 2019 with UPDF Engineering brigade conducting the process.

Uganda Cranes last game at Mandela National Stadium was on November, 17th 2019 when they beat Malawi 2-0 during the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.

Earlier this month, Namboole hosted a Uganda Premier league double header between BUL FC and Vipers SC as well as KCCA FC against SC Villa.

The two games acted as test matches at the stadium that has been under refurbishment since 2019.

At the time Namboole has been under refurbishment, Uganda Cranes has hosted games at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, Cameroon and Morocco.
