FUFA confirms dates for Cranes 2026 World Cup Qualifier matches against Botswana and Algeria

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed the dates for the 2026 World Cup Qualification matches between Botswana and Algeria.

On Monday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) gave FUFA greenlight to host international matches at the newly refurbished Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Uganda will entertain Botswana on Friday 7th June before hosting Algeria on Monday, 10th at Namboole.

Uganda last hosted an international match at Namboole on 17th November, 2019 in the 2-0 win over Malawi during the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.

Paul Put’s men opened their 2026 World Cup Qualification campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Guinea before overcoming Somalia 1-0 in their second game.

Uganda are in Group G alongside Algeria, Somalia, Guinea, Botswana and Mozambique.

Only Algeria has ever qualified for the biggest football event, having previously prevailed to the final tournament on four occasions in 1982, 1986, 2010 and 2014.
