Absa Bell Tourney attracts over 40 professionals and 220 amateur golfers

The 2024 Absa Captains’ Bell attracted over 40 professionals and 220 amateur golfers on Saturday at Kitante.

The event saw Paul Rukundo being ushered in as the new captain.

Rukundo who was elected in March after a 177-66 vote victory over former Vice Captain Paul Nuwagaba.

He succeeded Emmanuel Wamala who served in the role last year.

Meanwhile, Absa Bank Managing Director Mumba Kalifungwa hailed the winners at the event and assured their commitment towards the Captain’s Bell tournament

“Our growth in sponsorship is from UGX 30 million in 2021 to UGX 152 million this year is a testament to our dedication to seeing Ugandan golf thrive and the results already speak for themselves. A big shoutout to our own, Ronald Rugumayo for his exceptional performance at this year’s Kenya Magical Open and a stellar 7 under par showing in the professional category of this edition of the Absa Captain’s Bell.” Said Mumba

In the amateur categories, Joseph Cwinya-ai (Gross Men) and Peace Kabasweka (Gross Women) took top honors. Perez Muhwezi and Rose Azuba were the overall winners on Saturday.

The state Minister of Sports Peter Ogwang graced the glamorous event at Kitante on Saturday.
