NEC FC close to signing Maroons FC goalkeeper

Uganda Premier league side NEC FC is close to signing Maroons FC goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

Ssebwalunyo has already held talks with NEC FC and agreement is close to being completed.

The custodian has a year left on his employment contract having returned to the club at the start of the 2023/24 season on a two year deal from URA FC.

Ssebwalunyo was named as the player of the season at Maroons FC for his incredible performances during the just concluded season. He finished the league campaign with 11 clean sheets.

In case the deal materializes, Ssebwalunyo will battle for a starting place with veteran goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan at the 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup Finalists.

At Maroons he replaced Simon Tamale who left the club for Rwanda side Rayon Sport FC at the end of th 2022/23 season.

Ssebwalunyo has also previously featured for BUL FC before he joined Maroons and URA FC.

Last season, Hussein Mbalangu coached side who were making their maiden appearance in the Uganda Premier league finished sixth on the table with 48 Points.
