Denis Omedi won’t be joining Kenyan Giants Gor Mahia this transfer window due Kitara FC’s demands.
Swift Sports Uganda understands that Kenyan Giants Gor Mahia were interested in Omedi’s signature but failed to reach a compromise with Kitara FC.
Kitara FC wanted $100,000 while Gor Mahia were offering $50,000.
Sources also reveal that Kitara FC are in negotiations with a South African club over the transfer of Omedi who has a year left on his contract.
The player was kin on the move but since he still has a year left on his contract without a release clause, it was up to the Kitara to accept or reject the offer from Gor Mahia.
Omedi joined the Brian Ssenyondo coached side at the start of last season.
Last season, Omedi finished with 14 league goals only behind KCCA FC’s Muhammad Shaban who was the top scorer with 17 goals.
He also helped Kitara clinch their maiden Stanbic Uganda Cup beating NEC FC in the final that was played at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
His impressive performances earned him a national team call up and featured for the Uganda Cranes against Botswana and Algeria in the World Cup qualifiers at Mandela National Stadium. He assisted Shaban for Cranes’ winner against Botswana.
Before joining Kitara FC, Omedi featured for Booma FC and finished as the FUFA Big League top scorer during the 2022/23 campaign with 22 goals.
