Wakiso Giants long serving captain Hassan Ssenyonjo is a transfer target for Tanzanian champions Young Africans as per multiple sources in Tanzania.

According to Sports Arena Tanzania, Yanga want to sign Ssenyonjo to bolster their midfield department that also houses Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho.

Sports Arena states that Ssenyonjo is expected to arrive in Tanzania and will be further assessed during a friendly game to be held on Saturday night at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Besides being a captain, Ssenyonjo has been a mainstay in the five years he has spent at Wakiso Giants, making 121 Uganda Premier League appearances in the process.

He has been a transfer target of Uganda Premier League clubs SC Villa and Vipers SC in the most recent past.

Yanga have opted for Ssenyonjo after their unsuccessful bid to sign Yusuf Kagoma who has reportedly signed a two year contract with rivals Simba SC.

Yanga are expected to embark on preparations for the upcoming season with training camp in Morocco.

The Miguel Garmondi coached side will be aiming for a better finish in the CAF Champions League after being eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns at the quarter final stage last season.

Yanga have won a domestic treble for the past two seasons and have won the league title three times in succession.
