Eight Ugandan teams confirm participation at the 2024 ISF World School Gymnasiade

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has announced that at least eight Ugandan schools will take part in the upcoming 2024 International School Sport Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade in Bahrain.

The games will take place in Bahrain’s capital Manama between October 23rd to October 31st.

This was confirmed by the USSSA President, Justus Mugisha during a press conference held at the Association’s headquarters.

“The Gymnasiade is one of the biggest tournaments of ISF. It brings together very many games and this year it will be hosted in Bahrain in October.” Mugisha said.

“We gave a chance to the schools that qualified to participate in these games. It will be an opportunity for the Ugandan schools to showcase their talents at an international stage.” He added.

While at the event, Uganda will compete in Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Beach Volleyball and Basketball 3×3.

The schools that have so far confirmed participation are; Kibuli SS, Nabisunsa Girls, Rubaga Girls, Mbogo College, Mbogo High, Mbogo Mixed, Standard High Zana and Katikamu SDA Secondary School.

Kibuli SS will compete in Table Tennis, Tennis and Badminton, Nabisunsa Girls will compete in Basketball 3×3 while Rubaga Girls Secondary School will take part in Badminton.

Mbogo College, Mbogo High and Mbogo Mixed will take part in Table Tennis (Girls), Badminton (Girls) and Table Tennis (Boys) respectively.

Standard High Zana and Katikamu SDA will also take part in Beach Volleyball for Boys and Girls respectively.

Mugisha also stated that the registration is still ongoing and encouraged more schools to register for the anticipated event.

“Registration is still going on, we still have some slots in some categories so if a school would like to participate they are welcome.” He revealed.

“The condition for participating is cost sharing. USSSA will cover the costs of uniforms, feeding, accommodation and allowances. The only thing the schools need to provide are the tickets to Bahrain, which are not too expensive.” He added
