Mawokota players have reportedly threatened to boycott their fixture against Busiro due to unpaid salaries and allowances.
According to reliable sources, Mawokota players told the team officials after their goalless draw with Buvuma last Saturday that they were to boycott their next fixture in case the team management failed to clear the arrears.
The players also went on to demand a meeting with the county chief Owek Kayima Sarah Nannono who they claim refused to release the money that was fundraised before they kick started the campaign.
Sources reveal that the saga started after fundraising ceremony that was held on Tuesday 18th June 2024 at Mawokota Ssaza Headquarters in Kamengo, Butoolo.
At the fundraising ceremony it’s reported that over Shs100 Million was collected in Cash to facilitate the team in their bid for a fourth Masaza Cup title.
It’s claimed that the County Chief Nannono has over taken power and rights from Mawokota team management.
Their also allegations that she took control of selling tickets during Mawokota’s home games and team merchandise.
The three time Buganda Masaza Cup winners are under the stewardship of Steven Bogere and are in Masengere Group along with Buvuma, Kabula, Busujju, Ssese and Busiro.
Mawokota have previously won the prestigious competition in 2005, 2007 and 2013.
