SC Villa include six new players in their traveling squad for CECAFA Kagame Cup

Uganda’s representatives for this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup have named a traveling squad of 25 players for the tourney.

The squad comprises of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, twelve midfielders and three strikers.

Dusan Stojanovic has also named six new signings to the squad who are left backs Simon Kato Semayange and Denis Kaka Omony who both joined from Soltilo Bright Stars as earlier reported by this website.

Attacking midfielder Isaac Mpagi joined from Maroons FC, defender Geoffrey Lubangakene from Mbale Heroes and Najib Yiga formerly at Vipers SC and Kitara FC and winger Johnson Senyonga who joined from Jinja North.

Uganda Premier league Most Valuable Player for last season Patrick Jonah Kakande and Ronald Ssekiganda who was named as the best midfielder in the league headline the team to Tanzania.

The Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa are in Group C of the CECAFA Kagame Cup that will kickoff on Tuesday, 9th-21st July. They are in the group alongside Rwanda’s APR FC, Singida Black Stars of Tanzania and South Sudan’s Al Mereick Bentui.

The top teams from each group and the best runner-up will automatically qualify for the semi final stage.

Stojanovic’s side will kickoff their campaign against South Sudan’s Al Mereick Bentui on Tuesday.

SC Villa have previously won the CECAFA Kagame Cup on three occasions; in 1987, 2003 and 2005 and will be returning to the tournament after 19 years.
