Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa have intensified their pursuit for striker Derrick Kakooza who is currently a free agent.
The Jogoos believe Kakooza could solve their inadequacies in the attacking department that saw the club heavily rely on Charles Lwanga last season.
Kakooza is unattached to any club since parting ways with Ethiopian Coffee SC in September last year.
Kakooza was a hot-shot in 2021 as he emerged as the top scorer of the U20 AFCON tournament held in Mauritania with five goals.
His stand-out performances not only elevated the Uganda Hippos to a silver medal finish but also garnered him interest from several clubs in Europe and Africa.
He subsequently joined Valmiera II in Latvia before switching to Egypt’s ENPPI at the start of last year and later Ethiopia Coffee.
SC Villa are very adamant they will land Kakooza’s signature ahead of the new 2024/25 season.
Locally, Kakooza featured for Police FC in the Uganda Premier League and the Police Armless Brigades in the FUFA Juniors League.
