Former SC Villa captain Kenneth Semakula has joined Tunisia’s Club Africain on a two year contract, according to FUFA TV’s Sportlight.

Semakula has been a free agent since his departure from SC Villa at the end of last season.

He has been a target for a number of clubs but according to The Sportlight, Club Africain has won the race to sign him.

The versatile Uganda Cranes defender can ably play as a center back, a right back and also a defensive midfielder.

He versatility and leadership exploits were instrumental as SC Villa won the Uganda Premier League title for the first time in 20 years.

He will become the fifth ever Ugandan to feature in the Tunisia league after Jackson Mayanja, Emmanuel Okwi, Yunus Sentamu and Richard Kasagga.

Mayanja played for Espérance, Okwi played for Etoile du Sahel, Sentamu played for CS Sfaxien while Kasagga featured for Olympique Beja.

Club Africain formed in 1920, is based in Tunis and host league games at the Stade Hammadi Agrebi.

The club is currently coached by former Real Madrid assistant coach David Bettoni and finished 6th in the Tunisia Ligue 1 last season.

Also known as the Reds and Whites, Club Africain are 13 time winners of the Tunisia Ligue 1 and one time winners of the CAF Champions League.

Ironically, their only CAF Champions League title came in 1991 when they beat SC Villa 7-2 on aggregate in the final when the tournament was still known as the African Cup of Champions Clubs.
