The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards have rewarded the winners for the month of July.
Joseph Ssewali (Football), Aaron Ofoyrwoth (Rugby), Sulaiman Ssegawa (Boxing) and Sarah Nazziwa (Para-Badminton) were the winners.
Boxer Ssegawa was named the best in Boxing for his astonishing performances that saw his clinch the WBC Silver belt after overcoming American Ruben Villa
Ssegawa who is based in the USA beat Innocent Amoko and Moses Kimera to the gong. Kimera and Amoko had brilliant performances in the Uganda Boxing Champions League.
In Badminton, Nazziwa was rewarded for excellence in the Para-Badminton. She won silver at the Uganda International Para-Badminton event that was held in Lugogo last month.
She lost in the final to Brazil’s Carvalho Da Silva and she overcame Flavia Basuuta and Sumin Mutesi to the Badminton gong.
Ssingo captain Ssewali was named as the best football player of the month.
He scored three goals and two assists for the two time Buganda Masaza Cup winners Ssingo during the month.
He beat other contenders Robert Ssewanyana and Enoch Kabuuka to the accolade.
Ofoyrwoth won the rugby accolade for his incredible performances for the Rugby Cranes as they won the Rugby Africa Cup Men’s Sevens title in Mauritius last month.
He was named as the Most Valuable player of the tournament after scoring six tries that included a decisive one in the 20-17 win over South Africa.
