Ugandan left back Shafik Batambuze has joined Tanzania Premier League side Fountain Gate FC on a one year contract.

The move follows Batambuze’s departure from Kenya Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz where he has spent the last six months.

Batambuze returns to Tanzania having previously featured for Fountain Gate while the club was still known as Singida Big Stars as well as DTB FC.

He also played for Singida United in the 2017-18 season.

He also previously featured in the Kenya Premier League with giants Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Sofapaka, Western Stima and Muhoroni Youth.

He also played for Simba FC and SC Villa both in Uganda as well as Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors.

Batambuze has three caps with the national team The Cranes and was part of the squad that represented Uganda in the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.

Fountain Gate FC, formerly known as Singida Fountain Gate, recently relocated their base to Manyara Region and will play their home matches at the Kwaraa Tanzanite Stadium in Babati.

Last season, Fountain Gate struggled to earn positive results and settled for the 12th place on the league table.
