Watoto Childcare Ministries has on Wednesday launched it’s upcoming golf tournament at the Uganda golf Club in Kampala. The initiative aims to raise support for the skilling of young adults by resourcing Watoto’s Vocational and Technical Institute.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, 10 August 2024, at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.

Watoto Church Ministries’ Team Leader, Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo comments:

“For 30 years, Watoto has cared for nearly 6,000 vulnerable children and empowered over 6,500 women in our communities. Currently, we are caring for over 3,000 children in our Watoto villages, including 1,400 young adults. Our goal is to raise them to become leaders who will participate in developing their communities.”

Watoto operates a vocational and technical institute that started in 2005 to meet the pressing need for skilled labour in the marketplace.

About 300 students are currently enrolled, each positioned to challenge the existing pattern and make a significant impact in their industry.

“With more and more students joining the institute to satisfy the insatiable demand for excellent technical skills in the marketplace, Hope Vocational and Technical Institute requires significant investment in human resources and equipment to support student training. We are grateful to every individual and all our partners that have come on board to support this cause,” Rwotlonyo says.
