The FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has suspended Kampala Regional football Association chairman Dirisa Kasalirwe and his Vice Nkugwa Peter.
The pair will not take part in all football related activities for 90 days.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday morning
“The investigatory chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has commenced preliminary investigation against the chairman of Kampala Regional football Association Kasalirwe Dirisa and his Vice chairman Nkugwa Peter for possible violation of the Ethics and Disciplinary Code for breach of general duties abuse of position and breach of the duty of loyalty.”
“In accordance with the Ethics and Disciplinary Code Kasalirwe and Nkugwa have been provisionally suspended for 90 days from taking part in any football related activities (administrative, sport or any other) as of notification of this decision. The provisional suspension shall be for the mentioned period pending investigatory proceedings.” Read the statement
Last year, this website reported that Nkugwa who was serving as the Chairman of the Referees Committee in Kampala Region, solicited money from referees in exchange for nominations for the FUFA National Referee’s badge.
Referees claimed Nkugwa threatened them whenever their decisions went against his affiliated team, Wembley Boys, which violates FIFA statutes prohibiting committee members from club affiliations.
Referees further criticized the unfairness in promotions to the national level, where less experienced individuals were prioritized over more competent ones.
