Former Villa captain Kizito close to joining arch rivals

Former SC Villa defender Gavin Kizito Mugweri has agreed terms with KCCA FC, Swift Sports Uganda understands.

Kizito who recently fell out with record Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa is expected to sign a two year employment contract at Lugogo.

Kitara FC were the other UPL side interested in his services but the latest indicates that he is on his way to KCCA FC to replace Joseph Ogwang who left the club for greener pastures in the USA.

Kizito returned to Villa at the start of last season after parting ways with Egyptian Premier League side Al Ittihad Alexandria.

At SC Villa, he was instrumental for the side in their league triumph last season that ended their 20 year title drought.

He played a total of 25 league games last term, scoring once and managed two assists for SC Villa.

KCCA FC have already signed Derrick Nsibambi, Steven Munguchi Kwikiriza Shafik Nana, Issa Mubiru, Bright Anukani, Muhamood Hassan and Emmanuel Anyama.

The 13 time Uganda Premier league champions will host URA FC in the 2024/25 UPL opener on 13th September at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
