Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana made headlines during the goalless stalemate between Zimbabwe and Cameroon on Tuesday night.
Thousands of Manchester United fans thronged Mandela National Stadium to watch the club’s shot-stopper featuring for his native Cameroon during their AFCON 2025 Qualifier.
When the Cameroon bus arrived at the Stadium, fans were already waiting to watch Onana live, chanting his name with had placards.
In the game, Zimbabwe’s Khama Billiat forced Onana into a decent save early in the second half to send crowd at Namboole into elation.
After the game, Onana rewarded his pair of gloves, boots and shin guards to lucky fans at Namboole.
“It’s a great pleasure for the team to have a superstar like Andre Onana and it’s great to have supporters behind us in a foreign country.”

Onana was however whisked away from the Stadium immediately after the game and he didn’t travel with the team bus.
Security had to disperse the excited crowd to allow the premio that Onana travelled in leave straight to the airport.
Meanwhile, Cameroon are currently second in Group J of the AFCON 2025 qualification campaign with Kenya leading but both on four points.
Fans will once again have a chance to watch Onana and Co when Kenya host Cameroon at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole next month.
