betPawa has dedicated its men’s and women’s teams win at the inaugural Corporate Run event held on Sunday 13th October to all the participants, lauding them for supporting the initiative which aims to raise funds towards better maternal health care services in the country.
This year’s run, whose theme was ‘Run for Expectant Mothers’ was held at the Dove Stadium in Luzira.
According to the organiser Corporate Games Limited, the event aims to galvanize support towards prevention of maternal and infant deaths through provision of proper and timely health care during delivery.
The betPawa teams led by local partner Allan Tumushabe emerged winners in both the men’s and women’s five-kilometre competition.
“Our employees gave it their all both in the race and spreading the message on the need to assist our mothers get improved health care during delivery,” Tumushabe noted.
“I applaud other participants because together we can generate faster results to support in the provision of timely health care to our mothers when they are bringing forth life,” he
added.
The event’s goal was to raise UGX 100 Million for buying 1,000 maternity kits to be distributed in at least four main health centres in Eastern and Northern Uganda.
The event raised UGX 32.5 Million of which betPawa contributed nearly a third, with a donation of UGX 10 Million.
“Every year at least 95% of maternal deaths worldwide occur in low to lower middle income countries.
These women die as a result of complications during and following pregnancy and childbirth, most of which can be prevented,” said betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager Ivy Igunduura.
“Supporting this cause is a way for us to join the countrywide endeavour to decrease these deaths and give back to the community which believes in our brand.”

Corporate Games Ltd Chairman Ian Rumanyika said the organisation initiated the project to tap into the power of sport in highlighting important messages to society.
