Uganda’s long distance great Joshua Cheptegei closed his 2024 calendar with the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon win in India.
Cheptegei cruised to his first win over the 21Km distance with a time of 59 minutes and 46 seconds on Sunday.
It was an iconic 2024 for the reigning 10000m Olympic champion who will next year turn more focus on Marathon running after a glittering career on the track.
Meanwhile, Alemaddis Eyayu of Ethiopia took the Women’s title at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon.
Eyayu clocked 1 hour 8 minutes and 17 seconds to smile to the elite Women’s title.
Sawan Barwal with a time of 1:02:46 and Lili Das with 1:18:12 won the Indian Men’s and women’s elite titles respectively.
This is the 19th edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. It has a prize of USD260,000
