Vipers attempt to assume table leadership as leaders KCCA visit

Third placed Vipers SC will welcome table leaders KCCA FC in the top of the table clash under the floodlights of Kitende on Saturday.

KCCA FC is currently top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 17 points from 7 matches, while Vipers SC are third on the log with 16 points from 7 games.

The Venoms cruised to a 3-1 victory over Mbarara City in their previous game while KCCA FC thrashed Maroons 5-0.

KCCA FC are unbeaten this term after managing five wins and two draws in their opening seven league games.

The Abdallah Mubiru coached side is yet to concede a league goal since their 1-1 stalemate at BUL FC in September on match day two.

They have managed six clean-sheets this season in seven games.

Vipers SC have a 100% record at home having won all three games they have hosted against Express FC, SC Villa and Police FC.

The Venoms are also targeting their fifth straight win since the departure of Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic.

Last season, KCCA FC beat Vipers home and away (3-1 at Lugogo and 1-0 at Kitende).

Players to Watch

Vipers’ Starboy Allan Okello will be facing his former paymasters. Okello has been in fine form this term scoring five goals in the last four games.

Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa are the others expected to light up the Venoms attack

For KCCA FC, Bright Anukani returns to Kitende and is expected to have a productive evening.

Sadat Anaku, Saidi Mayanja, Usama Arafat and Shafik Kwikiriza are the others expected to lead the Kasasiro Boys to maximum points.

Team News

KCCA FC will be without Derrick Nsibambi, Julius Poloto and Emmanuel Anyama due to respective injuries. The game also comes too early for Peter Magambo who continues with his rehabilitation.

Mubiru’s side will however be boosted by the return of midfielder Joel Sserunjogi who returns from a one match suspension.

This will be the 30th meeting between the two sides, Vipers have an edge in this fixture having won 13 and lost nine to KCCA FC in the previous 29 meetings with seven ending in stalemates.
